Gray Fox | Arkansas
One of my favorite encounters to date. I truly could not believe it, but while standing in my backyard looking for birds I heard something rustling through the leaves to my right. I glanced over certain it would be a squirrel to see two gray Fox trotting my direction somehow oblivious to my presence. My theory is they were focused on passing over our creek and could not hear due to the running water, but I don’t really care what the reason was, I am just stoked it happened. I squatted down and waited for them to cross the creek on my side and this fox walked up about 15 yards away before seeing me squatted down taking it’s photo. It sat still for probably 40 seconds, which is an eternity in wildlife photography and I shot a handful of solid photos. I had been tracking this fox and seen it briefly two separate times leading up to this encounter, but none of that mattered in the end since it walked right up to me! Such an awesome moment I will never forget.
